Ruby Lestrange
is an English-American circus artist and physical theatre practitioner. An outreach worker, activist, houseless advocate and medic; Ruby uses her experience of the heaviness of the world to live and heal through their movement practice, which exists in the space between raw stories and abstract expression. Fusing aerial, acrobatics, and physical theatre into visually striking, emotionally resonant, hilarious and bizarre performance; Her work distorts the body and reimagines its possibilities. For ten years, Ruby suffered from late stage Lyme disease. Fuelling an obsession for redefining what the art form can mean for those who are not in traditionally “circus bodies”, Ruby is committed to creating work which renders the invisible, visible.
